WorkshopsRHYTHM & SONG PLAYSHOP - 2 to 3 hour workshop With the emphasis on PLAY, this is an opportunity to let go of the notion that you “have no rhythm”. Using fun activities and a variety of percussion instruments, participants will have the opportunity to learn playing techniques, simple beats and to find their unique contribution to a circle of rhythm. No experience is needed. Your own percussion instruments are welcome, but not required. PLAYING YOUR NATIVE AMERICAN STYLE HOOP DRUM - 2 to 3 hour workshop This hands-on instructional workshop is for anyone who wants to feel more comfortable and confident playing their hoop style drum. Through exercises and activities, participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice several basic rhythms, will gain technique and will learn several songs and chants. We will also consider the power or the drumbeat to unite us with each other and the Earth…heart and heartbeat. The workshop takes place in a circle, no experience is needed. It’s best if you can bring a drum. For those who don’t have drums, I have a few to lend on a first come, first served basis. TRANSFORMATION THRU BREATH, SOUND & RHYTHM - Can be presented in a 3 hour or 6 hour format In this workshop participants will work with simple yet powerful techniques in conscious breathing, chanting, toning, primal sounding, pulse meditation and rhythm making. Through breath, sound and rhythm, each participant will be given tools for assisting their own personal wellness and transformation. Through teaching and activities in a safe supportive circle, participants will have the opportunity to experiment and grow. No experience is needed. Some activities are done lying down so please bring a pad to lie on, a blanket to cover up with and dress in loose comfy clothing. Your own percussion instruments are welcome, but not required. DRUM-MAKING WORKSHOP - 6 hour workshop In this full day workshop, each participant will make a 15" hoop drum and drum beater in an atmosphere of respect and gratitude. Participants will have the opportunity to learn drum making technique and to experience actually creating their own drums from deer hide and wood. Making a drum can be a very powerful experience of connection to all our relatives and all drum-making materials will be gathered with respect for the giveaway. Participants are asked to bring sharp scissors, either a sharp knife (exacto is good) or a leather punch, and to dress for a mess!
WOMEN'S COMMITMENT TO VISION - Celebrating our True Selves In this 6 month series for women we will deepen our understanding of our individual gifts and paths and consider our unique contribution to life. In a safe and supportive circle of sisterhood we will connect with our personal visions, explore and lean into our fears and determine the next powerful steps along each of our personal journeys. Through movement, rhythm, sound, meditation, conscious breathing, ritual art, sharing circles and guided introspective activities we will become more acquainted with our truest selves and discover ways in which we each can carry our unique gifts and visions into our daily lives for the good of ourselves and all. We will meet for one full day each month for 6 consecutive months. Each monthly session will build on the work from the previous session, so it's important that participants commit to all 6 sessions. Please plan to bring a journal and writing instrument, your lunch/snacks and drinking water. If you won't be comfortable sitting on the floor, please bring your own cushion or chair. Your drums and rattles are welcome but not required. CONTACT LEAH FOR NEXT SCHEDULED SESSION
